PSG vs Nimes
France – Ligue 1
Date: Wednesday 3rd February 2021
Kick off at 20:00 UK/ 21:00 CET
Venue: Parc des Princes.
PSG have now lost 5 games this season and there has to be serious question marks if they will retain their title. Yes they are only 3 points behind the leaders Lille but usually by this stage the club are 15 points in front, their standard has gone down.
There was a big shock at the weekend as PSG lost 3-2 away to Lorient in 19th place, despite Neymar scoring 2 penalties it wasn’t enough and PSG gave up 1st place and as a result fell to 3rd.
The defeat was new coach Mauricio Pochettino’s first at PSG and he has only been in charge for 1 month. Though shocks can happen like they did last weekend everyone will be expecting them to not only beat Nimes in Paris but score many goals too.
PSG have the 2nd best record at home and have won 25 points from a possible 33. The champions have won their last 4 in a row in Paris with their latest game ending in a 4-0 victory over Montpellier.
For Nimes this is like David v Goliath and the club can’t argue with that as they come into this match in last place in Ligue 1.
Nimes have lost 14 of their 21 matches so far and last weekend they lost 3-1 at Angers. The club have earned just 3 points from their last 15.
What has been interesting for Nimes is that they have a better away record than at home and from their total of 15 points they have actually earned 11 on the road. Nimes have won 3 games from the 11 games played so far.
PSG vs Nimes: Head to Head
- Last season PSG won this fixture 3-0.
- In Ligue 1 the clubs have played each other 4 times and PSG have won all 4 games and scored 14 goals and conceded just 2.
- There is a 100% record between the teams to see more goals in the 2nd half.
PSG vs Nimes: Prediction
This is a game where mostly every follower of football will see a home victory, but we can’t back one as PSG are huge odds on, there is simply no value to do so.
PSG will be a wounded beast and sometimes clubs of PSG’s quality play these games and get a 2-0 or 3-0 win. We think on this occasion we will have a team that will be determined to make up for their shortcomings against Lorient and just remind the league of what they can do.
This is why we will concentrate on the goals market and find the best value possible that we can, but be sure PSG will win this encounter and Nimes will have to focus on the game after this one next weekend.
