Premier League: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang enjoys some jokes with new coach Frank Lampard in training

After his appointment as Chelsea’s new coach this afternoon, Frank Lampard participated in his first training session.

The former Everton, who is not new to the club, was spotted chatting with certain players that he had previously taught at Chelsea.

Aubameyang spoke with Lampard despite arriving from Barcelona in January of this year.

Aubameyang and Lampard chuckled as the former manager of Stamford Bridge took over as Graham Potter’s temporary successor.

Under Potter, the 33-year-old ex-Arsenal striker had trouble getting a bench position.

Even though he is no longer the lightning-quick force he once was, many Chelsea fans believe he is the goal scorer that Chelsea desperately needs.

Yet, after spending £323 million on players in January, Potter was unable to sign a top-tier striker.

Instead, he primarily acquired Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk for £88 million and Enzo Fernández from Benfica for a British record £115 million.

The 44-year-old former England and Chelsea midfielder Lampard selects his starting lineup on Saturday when his 11th-place squad travels to Wolves.

Lampard was previously hired as the permanent manager of the Blues in July 2019 but fired 17 months later. He was also fired by his last club, Everton, in January 2019.

Lampard has refused to get drawn into commenting on his long-term future
