Premier League: He got eaten up – Paul Merson slams England star after Chelsea’s latest defeat
Arsenal legend, Paul Merson has noted that Mason Mount ‘got eaten up’ during Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Southampton on Saturday.
Chelsea were beaten 1-0 by struggling Southampton and remain 10th in the Premier League.
The Blues are also 10 points behind fourth-placed Newcastle United after James Ward-Prowse’s free kick separated the both sides and gave the Magpies all three points.
Chelsea have won just once in their last 10 matches in all competitions.
England international, Mount struggled to impress and had a miserable afternoon which ended just after the hour mark as he was replaced by Kai Havertz.
“I don’t see this stopping, I don’t,” Merson told Sky Sports when analysing Chelsea’s latest defeat.
“They’re bought a lorry load of individuals, I’m afraid. They’ve not bought anybody for the team, it’s all dribblers.
“Forget Enzo Fernandez, he’s a top player, he’s a holding midfield player but the others… Mount played today and he got eaten up.
“But I don’t see this stopping.”
