Premier League: Chelsea set to appoint Enzo Fernandez’s choice as new manager

Chelsea midfielder, Enzo Fernandez has told the club to appoint Marcelo Gallardo as their next permanent manager.

And now the club is giving serious consideration to appoint the Argentine.

Chelsea are in search of a permanent manager after they decided to sack Graham Potter a couple of weeks ago.

Frank Lampard, who was given the care-taker job, has not started on a good note, losing his first game in charge to Wolves in the Premier League.

But he will remain at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season while they conduct a thorough search for a permanent successor.

Multiple reports in Argentina claim Gallardo, a former River Plate boss, is confident of being the next manager at Stamford Bridge.

UOL reports that he is ‘close’ to being appointed with Fernandez said to have played a major role to bring the Argentine to west London.

The 22-year-old is said to have ‘given the go-ahead’ to Chelsea’s hierarchy to appoint the manager.

Fernandez came through the academy at River Plate while Gallardo was in charge and played his first ever professional football under the Argentine boss, who he sees as a father figure.

The 47-year-old Gallardo has already informed his coaching staff that he will return to the dugout this summer
