Sheffield United vs Chelsea
England – Premier League
Date: Sunday, 7 February 2021
Kick-off at 19:15 UK/ 20:15 CET
Venue: Bramall Lane.

The Blades have been the worst team in the whole competition this season. They are placed dead last in the table, and have scored a total of just 14 goals so far this campaign – from 22 fixtures.

They are also a rather new team into this league, as they were promoted to the top flight just at the end of the previous season.

They have been a major contender to get relegated at the end of 2020-21 all through this campaign. They might have slightly improved their form lately, but it was hugely due to an easier schedule with weak opponents. The Blues are no such team.

They are one of the titans of the English top flight,  and are currently trying their best to get into one of the European spots.

They do have a match in hand, and need a surplus of just three points to climb to the sixth position in the table – which would allow them an entry into the newly-formed Europa Conference League.

Going on, they are also under the tutelage of Thomas Tuchel, after Frank Lampard was sacked, and this seems to be working out for the 2016-17 champions.

On top of that, the Blues also have a good h2h record against this rival over the past few years.

Considering these observations, expect Chelsea to post the three points on the board this weekend.

Sheffield United vs Chelsea: Head-to-head (h2h)

  • The reverse fixture had ended in a 4-1 win for Tuchel’s men.
  • They had recorded four of the former five overall wins.
  • They had scored two or more goals in six of the past eight encounters.
  • Eight of the last ten clashes had three or more goals.

Sheffield United vs Chelsea Prediction

Chris Wilder’s men recorded a 2-1 win at home the last match-day, against West Brom. In the meantime, the Blues registered a 2-0 win at home the past game week, against Burnley.

Going on, the Blades had lost 18 of their past 25 overall match-ups, and at home they were defeated in six of their former nine appearances.

They are also placed bottom-most in the table, and have been the worst team in the PL in 2020-21.

On the other hand, their counterparts were unbeaten in five of their preceding six matches, and they had won six of their former ten road trips.

In addition, they have a good h2h record against this rival, and most importantly, Tuchel’s men are determined to make amends for all the dropped points during Lampard’s tenure, and this match-up against Wilder’s men could not have come at a better time.
