Chelsea may be kicking themselves even more for losing Jamal Musiala to Bayern Munich three years ago, but Jody Morris has explained that the Blues were powerless to letting the teenager go. While Germany were sensationally knocked out of the World Cup on Thursday night, Musiala was the standout player for Hansi Flick’s side throughout the group stage.

The 19-year-old dazzled fans with the ball seemingly sticking to his feet while evading challenges at ease. He even made his own piece of World Cup history by completing 12 dribbles against Costa Rica – the most by any teenager since records began at the tournament.

Described as the ‘next Messi’ by Germany icon Lothar Matthaus, Musiala is not short of admirers. At Bayern, the midfielder is also thriving as he’s become a regular for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.

He’s already played his role in 22 goals in as many games at club level across all competitions this season. And Musiala’s performances at the World Cup have made some Chelsea supporters angry that they were unable to hold onto him three years ago.
