After Arsenal and Southampton Lost Today, See The EPL Table Update
The Premier League is back today with so much action to feed our eyes with. As we are approaching the concluding part of the season, each team in the Premier League is trying its possible best to win as many games as possible as the result they get from now on will determine whether they will end the season on the wrong side of the EPL table or the right side. Having said this, let’s take a look at some of the matches that have been played so far in the Premier League today and how the EPL table was affected.
Aston Villa vs Arsenal (FT Score: 1-0)
Aston Villa flew high today as they handed Arsenal their second defeat in a row. The Villans bounced back from their 3-1 home defeat against Westham on Wednesday to scrap out a 1-0 win against Arsenal today following an impressive display.
Arsenal defenders let them down in the second-minute as an error between Cedric Soares and Gabriel Magalhaes led to Aston Villa’s winning goal. The Gunners failed to respond to Watkins’ early goal, so they were forced to travel back to the Emirates Stadium with 0 points.
Burnley vs Brighton (FT Score: 1-1)
After an emphatic win against Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday, Brighton’s game with Burnley at the Turf Moor today ended in a 1-1 draw. Brighton started the game on the right foot as Lewis Dunk’s 36th-minute strike put the visitors in front. Brighton threw away the lead in the 53rd minute after Gudmundsson smashed in a loose ball to earn at least a point for the home team.
Newcastle vs Southampton (FT Score: 3-2)
Southampton traveled to the St James’ Park today with the hope of boosting their confidence with a win, following a humiliating 9-0 defeat against Manchester United earlier this week. However, a loss was what they got after giving their possible best.
Joe Willock scored a debut goal in the 16th minute to put the home team in front. Miguel Almiron’s first-half brace and a debut goal from Minamino saw Newcastle lead comfortably in the first half. Ward-Prowse scored a free-kick for the visitors in the second half but it was not enough to salvage a point for them. The game ended 3-2 in favor of Newcastle and Southampton will definitely be disappointed with the result.
The current look of the EPL Table.
After Aston Villa defeated Arsenal today, they pushed Tottenham to the 9th position while they climbed up to the 8th position on the EPL table.
